Dr. Aaron Ziegel is chair of the American Musicological Society’s Capital Chapter, Associate Professor and Division Leader of Music History and Culture at Towson University, and scholar-in-residence with Opera Baltimore. Much of his published research seeks to trace the emerging nationalist idiom in American Opera from the early decades of the 20th century. His articles also address issues in film music, American popular song, and music history pedagogy. At Towson University, he teaches courses on symphonic and choral literature, opera studies, American music, and writing about music. In the Baltimore area, he is active as a public musicologist, having lectured for Opera Baltimore, Pro Musica Rara, and the Handel Choir of Baltimore.
