Susan Thomas is Professor of Musicology and Director of the American Music Research Center at the University of Colorado and serves as Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the College of Music. Her book, Cuban Zarzuela: Performing Race and Gender on Havana’s Lyric Stage was awarded the Robert M. Stevenson Prize from the American Musicological Society and the Pauline Alderman Book Award from the International Alliance of Women in Music. She has been the recipient of a number of multiple grants and fellowships including grants from the NEH and NHPRC and residencies in the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard University and the Stone Center for Latin American Studies at Tulane University. The author of numerous articles and book contributions, she is also the Editor-in-Chief of Americas: A Hemispheric Music Journal.
